Being Productive

This quarter, thus far, has been a lot more work than fall quarter. Luckily, I have been told it gets better from here...

With that said, there hasn't been a whole lot of time to be creative. I try to sneak in little crafts here and there, but it has been really touch and go. Last weekend I decided that I was going to use this tutorial to create some "quilted" cards.

This was a bit of an expensive endeavor considering I didn't have any of the supplies, including a sewing machine. I think the machine is going to come in handy though. Being 5'1", my pants are always too long. I'm usually too lazy to do anything about it, so they drag on the ground, but now I will be able to hem them. It has also sparked my sewing mojo as I used to sew a bit when I was little. Whenever my mom had the machine out, I would make shorts or pants or hair scrunchies... fun fun fun.

Oh, I have big plans for that machine. For right now though, I will stick to my cards. They are a fun project that can be completed in a couple of hours. My first attempt came out quite nicely if I do say so myself!

Things that make me happy

Every now and again, I get down. Usually, this blip on the depression-o-meter is stress-induced. It is highly possible that my case of the blues can be completely contributed to the 6 14-hour days I've had already, with no end in site for this quarter...

To combat this feelin' and create a false sense of euphoria, I am making a list. We all know how I like lists! :-) And this time, all though it probably will be random, the random will not be on purpose. My list will be of things that make me smile. I wish I had a picture to show you right now, but I have a book... It is called my happy book. Now that I think of it, I have a whole shelf of happy books, my knitting books... but I digress. My happy book has quotes from fun times, little stories that I would love to remember, and sometimes I will just read through it and laugh and laugh. Sometimes, it is because I still think it is funny. Sometimes, it is because I can't believe that I once thought that was funny...

Anyway, things that make me go :-)

1. Knitting
2. Family time

3. E-mails with actual letters, to me specifically, in them...
4. Mail, in general
5. Puppy breath

6. Taking pictures, especially candid shots!
7. Liberace
8. K.J.
10. RT
11. Spending time helping others
12. Inside jokes
13. Outside jokes :-P
14. Animals, especially ones that don't spell like embalming fluid
15. Talking to my momma on the phone :o)
16. Baby clothes
17. Reading about knitting
18. Getting new books
19. Finding Nemo
20. "Remember that time..." stories
21. Snuggling
22. Giant M&M's.

I know there are more things, but this has really helped. I suppose this isn't very entertaining for The Masses, hahahahahahaha, but I figure you can go find someone else to keep you amused for today. At least there are pictures, right?!

Kick Arse

First, I would like to say THANK YOU for all the wonderful New Year's wishes, it has worked thus far...

It is back to the grindstone for this little girly, but I did have an awesome break. Can you guess where I went?

My baby brother is stationed in California with the army. He was not able to go too far from base. So, poor us, we had to visit him out there. My family decided Las Vegas would be the perfect rendezvous point. I couldn't agree more!

We did so much while we were there! Gambled (RT won $100), went to the shark reef, visited the Base, went to a comedy club, met some really rude people (come on! It was Christmas people... :-( ) , met some really great people, saw the fountains at the Bellagio, gambled, saw the pirate show at Treasure Island, people watched, gambled, hung out, ate awesome food, gambled, and just generally had a blast.

I already miss my family terribly. I have to say that it stinks that I didn't get to see my hometown friends this year, but I had so much quality time with the fam, it was great. Hopefully, soon I will get to rectify the friend situation, but they all know I love them (hopefully). It was a true family vacation.

I got little knitting done as most of the time I was some form of intoxicated... whoops. I work so hard at school that I feel shunning responsibility every now and again is acceptable.

This quarter is going to be a doosey (spelling?) so, I'm glad I got my fun times in while I had a chance. Maybe someday I will be able to do something besides study again, although it is not looking promising.
